Adam Ørvad is one of the leading accordionists of his generation. He was educated at the Royal Danish Academy of Music by James Crabb and Geir Draugsvoll. He graduated with maximum marks in 2002, after which he continued his studies in the soloist class. He made his soloist debut in the spring of 2005 to widespread critical acclaim with one of the most comprehensive programmes ever performed on the instrument.

He has established himself internationally as a soloist and a chamber musician and performs in countles connections - is attached to a wide array of ensembles - among others musikFabrik | Ensemble für Neue Musik, Köln, Ensemble Modern, Frankfurt. He has performed with a.o. Orchestre Philharmonique de Nice and at international festivals such as Festival de Radio France et Montpellier, Le SALON de la musique à la Vilette - Paris, Internationale Ferienkurse für neue Musik Darmstadt, MusikTriennale Köln, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Ars Musica - Bruxelles, Musica - Strassbourg, Holland Festival, Easter Festival of Contemporary Chamber Music - Sofia, International Festival of Chamber Music - Plovdiv, Suså Festival, Wind & Bellows - Frederikshavn and others.

Adam Ørvad's engagement in enlarging the repertoire of the concert accordion has resultet partly in a large number of innovative arrangements and transcriptions - partly in premieres of a large number of new works.

His artistic commitment spans over a wide array of genres: from baroque and classical to contemporary music – from folk music and folk rock to musical theatre.
